1. Register on campus 

2. Check in at the campus dorm 

3. Apply for Accommodation Proof 

    Click the link https://onestop-online.hkust-gz.edu.cn/fp/view?m=fp#act=fp/formHome to apply for accommodation proof, which is required for police registration. Once approved, you can print it at the one stop service center.

4. Register with the local police within 24 hours after arriving in China 

The Public Security Bureau requires all international students to register with the local police station within 24 hours of arrival. Once you arrive at campus dorm and get the accommodation proof, register by clicking the link and fill in the required information online: https://gzwg.gzjd.gov.cn/crj-app-server/crjmsjw/grzssb. If you stay off campus before you move into the campus dorm, please ensure to complete the police registration at the hotel you live or at the police station near your residence. 

5. Conduct a health check 

All students should complete a health check in Guangzhou International Travel Health Care Centre, the result of which will be used for visa application. If you have brought an approved original medical report, you will be exempt from certain parts of the check-up, but you will still need to go to the designated hospital to apply for an official certificate. Based on current regulations, this health check is free for students who will study for more than one year. Otherwise, you shall pay RMB482. 

Documents needed (For reference only):

(1) Valid regular passport and a copy

(2) Admission Notice

(3) The whole set of physical examination report for verification (for those who have had physical examination taken in their own country)

(4) 3 passport-sized photos(2’*2’)

NOTE: Before doing the physical examination, you should keep an empty stomach.

6. Apply for residence permit (for X1 visa holders only) 

Students who hold an X1 visa must apply for residence permit within 30 days after arrival. For more details, please check Immigration and Visa. 

7. Finish the psychological assessment as required 

    Free Psychological service are available on the campus. If you need psychological help, you are suggested to send an email to counseling@hkust-gz.edu.cn.
