On 30th March, the international students of HKUST(GZ) have experienced a day of being a perfumer. 

Perfume originated in Egypt, India, Rome, Greece, Persia and other ancient civilizations. Perfume was first used to worship the gods, it represents the sacred inviolability, so ordinary people can not use.

From people learn to use fire, they think that burning object smoke is the gods and the earth, perfume English word is

"perfume" originated in Latin "perfumum" means "through smoke", even now, incense is an important role in many religious rituals, they think the smoke is the way to communicate with the gods. In ancient Egypt, it was illegal to not to wear perfume in public.

Now, perfume has transformed to be a way to connect with people, to store a precious memory and to express ourselves. That is why, when we make perfume, the first step is to identify a “theme” of the perfume, and what message it has to carry. Next, we should identify the top note, middle note and back note that we love.

Students have enjoyed themselves in the one-day-perfumer activity, and it was a perfect Saturday afternoon to smell good and feel good! 

Now, we are all trainee perfumers!
